The Egyptian Football Association (EFA) have released a statement on Sunday, saying that a league return date will be announced on Thursday.
The Egyptian Premier League has been halted since 14 March due to the coronavirus outbreak with the total number of COVID-19 cases reaching more than 63,000 cases.
Sports Minister, Ashraf Sobhi, had announced that the Egyptian Premier League would start July 25th with teams already resuming training.
However, it seems that there could be a change of plans as many Egyptian Premier League sides recently announced that they have discovered coronavirus positive cases after undergoing PCR tests.
The EFA released a statement on Sunday, announcing that they held a meeting with Egypt head coach, Hossam El-Badry, and U-23 manager, Shawky Gharib, to decide the fate of the Egyptian Premier League.
They also added that a final decision on the league return date will be announced on Thursday as they await CAF’s update on the resumption of the CAF Champions League and Confederation Cup.
