Ghana’s total confirmed Covid-19 cases rise to 12,590 with 6 more deaths recorded


Ghana Health Services has updated the public on the country’s position on Covid-19 case counts as of Wednesday, the 17th of June 2020. Ghana has recorded 397 new cases of Covid-19, bringing the country’s case count to 12,590. Unfortunately, eight (8) more persons have died of the condition, bringing the death toll to a total of 66. However, the country has also seen an increase in recoveries with total recoveries currently standing at 4,410.

This brings the country’s active case count to 8,114. Over the past weeks, reports have indicated high profile individuals in the country have tested positive for the condition – MD of Nyaho Clinic, thirteen members of Parliament and two staff of the parliament house, Minister of Health, Mayor of Sekondi-Takoradi Municipality who has also reportedly died of the condition, among others.

The Ghana Health Service reports that thirteen (13) persons are currently in severe condition while another four (4) is reported to be in critical condition.
