American singer, songwriter, rapper, composer, fashion designer, record producer and entrepreneur, Kanye Omari West, famously known as Kanye West has donated an amount of USD 2 million to support the families of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, and Ahmaud Arbery.
Reports indicate that the donation will also cater for funding for legal fees for Arbery and Taylor’s families, along with black-owned businesses in crisis in his native Chicago and other cities. The step taken by the American musician and entrepreneur is, by the way, a course of a demonstration against deaths to Arbery, Floyd, and Taylor, which have hit the world.
Arbery, an unarmed American-black African of 25 years old, was shot near Brunswick in Georgia while jogging. The incidence happened on the 23rd of February, 2020. On the 13th of March 2020, Breonna Taylor, a 26-year African American lady, was equally killed when three police officers of the Louisville Metro Police Department forcibly entered her apartment in Louisville and shot her dead.
The latest to hit the waves of the United States regarding such gruesome incidences is the murder of George Floyd. Four Minneapolis Police officers held George Floyd down while one of them, Derek Chauvin, had his knee to his neck for more than 9 minutes until he became unresponsive. After the incidence, lots of entertainment personalities have stood in to call for an end to the systematic racism, unfavourable political leadership and police brutality extended to black citizens.
Representatives of Kanye West have also acknowledged the establishment of a 529 educational plan to fully cover the college tuition of George Floyd’s 6 year- old daughter, Gianna Floyd.
