After a long and patiently fought battle to retrieve locked funds by the aggrieved customers of defunct fund management firms in Ghana, especially, customers of Gold Coast Fund Management (GCFM), it seems the Security and Exchange Commission (SEC) is now ready to discuss the way forward of customers’ money payments.

According to the convened update from the leadership through the secretary, Joseph Aryeetey, to all customers, the meeting which was scheduled earlier with SEC have been rescheduled to next week Friday 26th June 2020.

This new date was communicated to the leadership of the aggrieved customers by Rev Ogbame Tetteh yesterday evening. According to Rev Ogbame, the reason for the postponement was due to his inability to secure a definitive roadmap for the discussion, however he promised to have all discussions completed by next week.

This delay and postponement didn’t go down well with the customers’ leadership as they made it known to Rev. Ogbame Tetteh that such further delays will not be countenance. This shows that the customers are very serious and ready to do anything to ensure that they retrieve their locked funds as it has been almost two years since senior citizens and pensioners started dying one after the other because of their locked up funds.

This meeting with SEC is hoped to bring positive outcome and some relieves for the aggrieved customers as there has been many fruitless meetings with the various state institutions. As Ghana is in an election year and the voters’ concerns are very imperative for any government that desire and hope to win, resolving the aggrieved customers’ plights cannot be overlooked.

For now, we are waiting for the outcome from the rescheduled meeting as the leadership is planning to meet with all customers to plan on strategies and the way forward of successfully retrieving their locked up funds.
