President of Techiman city football club Charles Kwadwo Ntim affectionately called Micky Charles, says it will make sense to cancel the Current football season in order to synchronize with the European leagues.

The Premier League, Division One League, Elite Women’s League, and all other leagues in the country have been inactive as a result of the ban on the public gathering by the government as a precautionary measure against the spread of the Coronavirus (Covid-19) disease.

Micky says it will be best of option to get rid of the league season.

“I have heard people saying that we should cancel the league and there are others also saying that we should be patient and I believe all those people have their reasons”he told Asempa Fm.

Those in the Premier League are playing 36 matches and they have now played 15, in the Division One we are playing 30 matches and we have only played 13 games. It means that season has not gone that far. In order to synchronize our calendar with the European leagues, let’s cancel our league and properly plan”.

The Football Association (GFA) has therefore begun engagements with stakeholders of the sports to discuss the impact of the Covid-19 disease amongst other matters including what should happen to the season, whilst the fate of the football season hangs in the balance.
