As part of her thanksgiving tour, the member of parliament for Abuakwa North Constituency and former deputy minister of education in-charge of Technical And Vocational Education And Training (TVET), Hon Gifty Twum-Ampofo, expressed her gratitude to the people of Abuakwa North for renewing the mandates of both Nana Akufo-Addo and her for another term of office.
She condemned and apologized unreservedly to the recent unfortunate happenings in Ghana’s parliament house during the desolution of the 7th and inauguration of the 8th parliament of the fourth Republic of Ghana 2020.
Hon Gifty Twum-Ampofo also blamed it on a voting pattern that sought to retain the then incumbent NPP presidential candidate (Nana Akufo-Addo) and reject the NPP representation in parliament, a situation they termed “skirt and blouse” purported by the main opposition NDC ahead of the polls.
The honourable member of parliament said, the NDC ahead of the December 2020 elections pedalled falsehoods that dented all NPP Parliamentary candidates image nationwide and promised that, they(NDC) were going to be in ‘bed’ with Nana Akufo-Addo’s government if they (NDC) are given the nod to serve as parliamentarians against the NPP aspirants, a propaganda that sank deep in the minds of some NPP sympathizers to vote against their own aspirants.
She added that, the aforementioned situation led to the NPP losing some of their parliamentary seats as well as the speaker of parliament to the NDC.
Hon Gifty Twum-Ampofo, therefore, admonished her Constituents to reject the NDC whenever they come to them with such propaganda for they are at ways apart with the NPP policy wise.
Honourable Gifty Twum-Ampofo, made this statement when she held a durbar at Akyem Old Tafo in Abuakwa North Constituency of the Eastern Region to thank her Constituents for a successful and peaceful 2020 elections on Tuesday January 12th, 2021.
