NPP’s elected Campaign manager for the 2020 general elections, Mac Manu, tests positive for Covid-19

The campaign manager of the ruling party, NPP, for the upcoming 2020 general elections, Mr Peter Mac Manu is reported to have tested positive for Covid-19. Additionally, Mr Carlos Ahenkorah, Deputy Minister for Trade and Industry, has also tested positive for the virus.

Both officials of the state are reported to have been admitted at the Intensive Care Unit of the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital. Sir John, the CEO of the Forestry Commission, died yesterday after testing positive for the virus. The death of the former General Secretary of the NPP comes after Albert K.K. Sam (Mayor of Sekondi-Takoradi) died of the condition.

Earlier reports had suggested the mayor died after falling ill, but later reports confirmed he died of Covid-19 while receiving treatment at the University of Ghana Medical Centre. Following the latest developments on Covid-19, Dr Lydia Dsane-Selby, the Chief Executive Officer of the National Health Insurance Authority, is reported to have also tested positive for Covid-19.

Reports indicate Mrs Dsane-Selby went into isolation after learning of her status. She is reported to be responding to treatment.
