The court of Appeal has dismissed an appeal filed by the ex-wife of former Black Stars player, Nii Odartey Lamptey. Gloria Appiah submitted a request to the Court of Appeal to allocate her a seven-bedroom house located at East Legon, owned by Nii Odartey Lamptey as compensation after their divorce in 2013.
Following their divorce in 2013, the High Court allocated a property located at Dome in Accra, owned by the former Black Stars player to Gloria Appiah and 40% share of a GHS 500,000 sum as alimony. The ruling came about after the ex-wife applied to the court to allocate her a 50-50 split of properties owned by the former Black Stars player.
Also, Gloria required the court to award her a seven-bedroom property owned by Nii Odartey Lamptey, located at East Legon in Accra. However, the Court of Appeal has dismissed her Appeal as all three judges who sat on the case found that she doesn’t deserve the property and have therefore ordered her to vacate the property immediately.
After the ruling, Odartey Lamptey expressed his excitement at the judgment of the Court of Appeal in an interview with Accra-based FM station, Kasapa FM. He gave all glory to the Lord for the outcome of the ruling and labelled the case as “the Lord’s battle.”
He further acknowledged the efforts of his lawyers throughout the proceedings of the case at the Court of Appeal. Odartey prayed that no man on earth goes through the issue he had faced with marriage as he identified the situation as a bitter experience. The former Black Stars player added that he is eagerly waiting for his ex-wife to vacate the property at East Legon.
The genesis of the divorce came when in 2013, a DNA test proved that three children of Gloria Appiah, which Nii Odartey Lamptey believed he fathered were all not his. The couple had been married for 20 years before the sudden situation occurred.
Gloria insisted Odartey Lamptey asked her to sleep with other men to get pregnant because he was impotent – an accusation which the former Black Stars player later denied. The audio of the interview is below:
