The Director-General of the Ghana Health Service, Dr Patrick Kuma Aboagye has indicated that the Sekondi-Takoradi Municipality has recorded 57 new cases out of the total 156 newly confirmed cases of Covid-19 in the country. The situation marks the municipality as a new Covid-19 hotspot in Ghana. The number of new cases recorded in the municipality is relatively as high as figures recorded in other areas of the country, and this throws a lot of caution to persons living within the municipality.
The Director-General of the Ghana Health Service, however, indicated that his outfit had deployed a team to assist the municipality in controlling the spread of the pandemic as the service did amid cases recorded in Tarkwa. The Savannah region of the country has however recorded its first case of Covid-19. The case is of a 31-year old from Tamale who works at Salaga. In total, 14 regions out of the 16 regions in the country have been affected by the pandemic.
Ghana’s current confirmed cases as at May 26, stands at 6,964 with 32 deaths. The Director-General entreats all to continuously adhere to the protocols put in place by the government and the WHO.
