“Love is the greatest of all leadership principles.” – Francis Abbah
Love is the greatest of all leadership principles. And all great leaders truly love the people they lead. It is that love leaders have for their people that enables them to lead effectively and to become better leaders themselves.
When leaders truly love the people they lead, they will always respect and treat their people rightly. When leaders truly love the people they lead, they will go the extra mile to ensure that they better and improve upon the lives of their people as a result of their influence. When leaders truly love their people, they will not devalue the people they lead. When leaders truly love their people, they will genuinely serve and add value to their people thereby making them servant leaders rather than a position conscious leader. When leaders truly love their people, they will care about the wellbeing of their people.
Genuine love, is not for the faint-hearted leader but rather for the courageous leader. For courage in leadership is not really about being in charge at all times but rather being able to live out right values even in the midst of challenges. And it takes courage on the part of a leader to truly live out the value of love. And because all great leaders are people of courage, they are able to genuinely love the people they lead.
People really do not care so much about what leaders know until they can testify that their leaders truly care for them and genuinely love them. And people will only give off their best to their leaders when they know without any shadow of doubt that their leaders genuinely love and care for them. For technical knowledge without genuine love and care for the people being led will only result in less efforts obtained from the people by the leaders.
To love is to be courageous, hence, choose love!
