Former vice but now acting President of the Musicians Union of Ghana (MUSIGA) has cautioned musicians to be mindful of their words when writing songs for political parties ahead of the 2020 general elections.
The “Belembe” hitmaker speaking at the recently held press conference of the Watch Your Tongue Campaign dubbed “Help Maintain Ghana Peace ” advised his fellow musicians to be circumspect when putting up words to create songs for campaign purposes during this election season.
“Do your business with the political parties but make sure your music does not create confusion but serves it professional purpose” Bessa said.
In times like these political parties engage the services of celebrities to endorse them by tapping into the following of these celebrities, many Ghanaian musicians has been captured on campaign platforms of some political parties.
However beyond business Bessa Simmons believes musicians need to also think about the peace of our society by doing away with lyrics that is likely to incite or cause tension among Ghanaians.
